Maui was looking very dry when we flew in last week. I caught on the local news yesterday announcements of water restrictions Upcountry. I’m sure that that is not the only place on the island to receive them.

Where we live on the North Shore is one of the wetter parts of Maui, but even here it looked dry on our return. This morning we have woken up to rain, or maybe more accurately steady drizzle. Though it wasn’t forecast, we’ll take it.

This rain probably won’t be enough, but the overcast skies and falling moisture is very welcome. The last few days the weather has been very hot, even with the Trade Winds taking the edge off the heat. With the recent passing of the second anniversary of the wild fires that raised the town of Lahaina to the ground, the fear of fires is felt more acutely than ever on this island now.
