The Sun Magazine
I was gifted a year’s subscription to The Sun Magazine for my last birthday. The first issue took a while in arriving, but since it has I have been held by the articles in the magazine. I have long been aware of The Sun Magazine, but for some reason have never picked up a copy to read.
I have been trying to put my finger on what I like about the articles - both fiction and non-fiction - that The Sun publishes. I believe that it is a few things all well produced and presented in a beautiful black and white format:
- The magazine is reader supported and more often than not contains submissions from readers. It is by and about every day life and happenings. Raw, powerful stories.
- Short stories (fact & fiction), interviews, poetry and photographs all sit alongside each other, with sections of readers views and shorter shared snippets.
- The ordinariness, the everyday life focus of what is written about. No airs and graces. Just what makes the world ticks. Peoples' everyday lives and dealings. I’ve always appreciated focusing on the small details, and what’s under my feet.
Head over to their website to get a taste of what is on offer if you haven’t dipped in before.
