This rather dark photo, a scan from a slide (remember them?!), was taken in 1989 when I was 25. I believe that it was taken somewhere in central Pakistan, perhaps near Lahore? The weather was baking hot, just dry heat, and I was on the start of a trip that would take me up through Pakistan on the Karakoram Highway to the Khunjerab Pass into China. I traveled through China to Hong Kong, and then onto Nepal and India. The journey was to change my life forever with the discovery of Tibetan Buddhism. That odyssey was almost 30 years ago, but some memories from it remain strong. In my latest blog post I explore the the comfort and reassuring power of memories. Link in bio.
