Images of the 98th Maui County Fair

The 98th Maui County Fair ran for four days, ending on Sunday October 5th. This was the first County Fair since COVID, and from what I have heard and experienced was packed from the day that it opened. I’ve read it reported that 30,000 people were in attendance on some days (every day?). Waiting for rides at times, especially going into the weekend evenings, was 45 minutes to an hour.

The fair consists of Fairground rides and games, animals and birds voted on as best in a given category, food and drink, and entertainment.

I went with my family on Friday evening, with my wife and I looking after our youngest grandchild. He did very well there, being patient with the long queues and we managed to get on two rides - the circular swing that you see in some of the photographs below, and the bumper cars (I did my best to ensure as many collisions as possible). However eventually he had had enough and wanted to leave. So between looking after him and our early departure, I was not able to catch as many photographs as I would have liked.

Photography was definitely on some visitors' minds though. At one point I walked passed a row of photographers with their DSLR cameras set up on tripods, all aimed at one ride.

Anyway, here are some shots that I caught that evening.
